Memory Cigar Box

If you are anything like me, you are probably scrambling around trying to finish those last minute projects to give as gifts. 

Don't worry, we can do it!  We will finish!

If you are still looking for a last minute idea, this Memory Cigar Box could work for anyone on your list!

So easy to personalize with photos, scrapbook stickers to add a name, favorite team paraphernalia, CD covers from a favorite band, maps of a hometown or vacation spot, or make a collage.

You will need an empty cigar box.  You can also find these boxes at the craft store, but you may have to paint them.  That's ok though, because then you can make it any color you want.  You will also need your scrapbook paper and decorations for the top of your box, mod podge, and photo safe glue sticks.  You may also want a clear polyurethane to finish it.  If using your favorite photo, choose a look and photo style that matches your box and have it printed out by Shutterfly or other photo printer.

I used two different colors of scrapbook paper to create a double frame for my picture.  Use your photo safe glue stick to adhere all of your layers together.  Be sure to get the edges to stick down really well.  Then adhere it in place to your box.  Let the glue dry a bit.

Using a foam brush, coat the top of your box with a layer of mod podge.  Allow to dry completely.  Repeat this process 2-3 more times. 

After it is dry, you may want to paint on a coat of clear polyurethane to protect it and make it less tacky feeling.

If you would like, you can fill your box with some mementos.  Extra photos or even small photo albums are always great to store in your box.  You could also cut a piece of velvet and glue it to the bottom of your box and use it as a jewelry box.
