Autumn Tulle Wreath

Fall is here!  Time to start decorating for autumn and Thanksgiving!  The easiest way to do that is to add a festive wreath to your decor.  This easy to make wreath can add fun and whimsy to any home.

You will need an embroidery hoop, which I found at my JoAnn's.  It was just over a dollar for a wood one and they come in a variety of sizes.  You will also need 4-5 yds of tulle in different fall colors.  I suggest using more of the darker colors.  Since it is sheer, the colors look lighter.  Finally, you will need flowers to accent your wreath.  I found a bunch at the dollar store.

Begin by cutting your tulle into strips.  Mine measured 3" x 12", but you can adjust this to the size wreath you would like.  After all of your strips are cut, begin tying your strips in double knots around the hoop.  Create a pattern with your colors.  Use more tulle to make your wreath fuller.

To decorate your wreath, remove your flower blossoms from the bunch.  Hot glue them in place onto your hoop.  Hang and enjoy!

This wreath is pretty versatile.  You don't necessarily have to hang it on a door.  Use a smaller sized hoop and make your wreath into a centerpiece with a pumpkin or candle in the middle.

You can also use your wreath in creating a topiary with a decorative planter and a faux pumpkin or pear like I have here.

  1. Pretty wreath! I love that you used an embroidery hoop. I used embroidery hoops for a project this week, too. I love that you can use it to decorate in so many different ways. Great colors.

    1. The tulle does not show up as bright of colors when you use the strips, so if you want more of a color, use more of it together to get it to stand out. I used brown, gold, orange, light green, and red.
