Stale Bread Croutons

What do you do with that stale loaf of bread you forgot you had?  Make croutons of course!  These turned out so yummy.  We got a loaf of bread that sat for a day or so.  We used some of it for Cheese Fondue for dinner one night.  The bread dips better if it isn't too soft.  We had some leftover and the next day it was pretty hard.  I thought we were going to have to just throw it or leave it for the birds.  My hubby decided he wanted to make chicken Caesar wraps and that it would be fun to have croutons on them.  So we decided it was time to experiment.

They were quite quick and simple to make and better than the store bought kind.  You can season them however you want.

Stale loaf of bread
2-3 Tbs butter
1 Tbs Bread dipping seasoning (or your favorite seasoning)
1 tsp olive oil
pinch garlic powder
Salt & Pepper to taste

Slice your bread into cubes.  Heat a large frying pan over medium heat.  Melt butter and stir in seasoning, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.    After butter is melted and all combined, add bread cubes and stir.  Stir occasionally, turning cubes to brown all sides.

These stale bread croutons are so easy to make and so much better tasting!  We will definitely be keeping that leftover bread for another batch of croutons!
