Last week my daughter went on a field trip to Legoland! How fun is that? I don't remember field trips like that when I was a kid. Now Lego has a new line out for girls, called Friends. They are the same Lego's loved by so many, but now they come in more girly colors, with girl figurines, and vehicles and buildings that are geared to girls. My little ones have really embraced these Lego's and got quite a few of them for Christmas gifts.
The girls didn't really want to throw all the different kits in a big bin together. They wanted to keep the pieces separate so that they could make each item without searching through the whole bin to find a certain piece. I didn't want to have to store all of these bulky boxes either. Major waste of space.
Together we came up with this storage bin idea. We put each kit in its own zippered bag, along with the instructions on how to build each item.
All the bags fit nicely in this cute pink bin. Plenty of room for more kits too. The best part is that you can put the lid on top and stack more. Have fun building with your Lego Friends!
This is brilliant! And yet so simple! My daughter has about 5 of these kits, and the pieces are all over the place. I've been searching for a storage option that a) didn't take up a ton of room (because we don't have it to spare), and b) looked girly enough for my daughter. Love your idea! :-)
ReplyDeleteI also recommend that you take photos of the actual boxes to help keep an inventory of the sets that you own as well. I do this with all of my LEGO sets.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Thanks for sharing!
DeleteHi, which size of bin did you find worked best for this (including depth)? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it depends on what size Lego sets you need to store. We had a bunch of smaller sets so this bin is 14 x 10.5 x 6.5.
