I was so excited to be invited to take part in one of my bloggy friend's Birthday Celebration! Amy from One Artsy Mama is having an Ornament Giveaway to celebrate. Not just one winner, but 17 winners of different ornaments! Head over there to enter to win!
I hope you win, but if you don't you can always make your own fortune cookie ornament!
They are quick and easy to make and so cute too!
For other Fortune Cookie crafts check out my Felt Fortune Cookies and my Fortune Cookie Placecards!
Place your two circles together, right sides out. Sew around the edge, keeping your material edge on the edge of your presser foot. Next, use pinking shears and trim the edge. Be careful not to get too close to your seam.
Fold your circle in half, with your patterned side in. Sew a seam down the middle of your circle. Start about half an inch in from your straight edge, sew about a 1 inch seam, and leave about an inch open on the curved edge. See the picture above.
Now you will take the two pointy sides and flip them in. I forgot to take a picture of this step with my red and green ornament, so I took one with the red & white version so I could show you what I mean. After you turn in both sides, you will have your finished fortune cookie. Cut a piece of ribbon about 7 1/2 inches long. Fold it in half and slide it into the top of your fortune cookie, between the two sides. Sew it in place, restitching on your previous seam. Your ornament is now ready to hang! Quick, easy & so cute!
This ornament is adorable! I love your choice of fabric.
ReplyDeleteI love that ornament! I would've picked it if I could've won my own giveaway...lol. My hubby and I had our first "official" date at a Chinese restaurant, and a few months later he put my proposal in a fortune cookie. I still have the "fortune". Do you think you'd be willing to make one for me? I'd pay you for it!
ReplyDeleteI received my ornament in the mail! Thanks so much- it's so cute!
