Last year my girls both got American Girl dolls for Christmas from their grandmother. Since it was such a big purchase, I'm glad they both still like and play with the dolls. It's always easy to find gifts for the girls since there are so many accessories out there for the dolls. Buying from the Americal Girl store is so expensive though. We have found some doll clothes and accessories at Target and JoAnns, which is nice. But, I did want to find something a little bit different and special. I decided to make my own pendant necklaces!

You will need an American Girl catalog, a scrabble tile, a bail, E6000 adhesive, Mod Podge, Mod Podge Dimensional Magic, and a necklace. Use the catalog to pick out a picture of your favorite doll. One of my girls has Kit and the other has Lanie. Since they don't make Lanie anymore, I found a picture that looked most like her from the custom doll page in the catalog. This page has a bunch of photos that really work well, but they are just in white shirts. There are so many small pictures in the catalog, I'm sure you will find the perfect one. Cut your picture out to fit onto your scrabble tile.
Use Mod Podge to attach your doll picture to the back of your tile. Allow to dry and then coat with mod podge again. Allow to dry and add a second coat. One of my pictures had a little letter next to the doll's head, so I added a little bling to cover it. Add any tiny stickers or bling now and mod podge over it.
After it is dry, use the Dimensional Magic over the picture. This will add a bubble like cover over it. When it is wet it will look cloudy, but don't worry it dries clear. Use a toothpick or pin to pop any bubbles while it is still wet. Allow to dry completely.
Use your E6000 to attach your bail to the back of your pendant. Slide your pendant on to your necklace and it is ready to wear! Now your daughter will have a one of a kind accessory and be able to take her doll with her anywhere!
These would make great little stocking stuffers as well!
