My daughter just got a new doll for her birthday. Kind of like an American Girl doll, but the knockoff version. Both of my older daughters already have American Girl dolls, so they've collected quite a selection of clothing and accessories for them. They were commenting that they didn't have any hats for their dolls. With a box full of stuff, it's hard for me to believe that they didn't have any hats, but they both claim that they don't. I figured maybe it's because hats don't really stay on the dolls very well. It got me thinking about how to make a hat that would stay on. The easiest kind to get to stay on my kids head's are the knit winter hats. It makes sense that these would be the easiest to make to stay on a doll's head as well.
All you need is a pair of crew style socks, a small rubber band, and some matching ribbon. I found a 2 pack of women's socks at the dollar store. This would make 4 hats!
Wrap your rubber band around your sock about 4 inches up from the cuff edge.
Try your hat on to your doll. You can now adjust your rubber band up or down to fit.
Slip the hat off your doll and trim the foot part of the sock off, right above your rubber band.
Tie a piece of coordinating ribbon over the rubber band.
Your doll is now ready to head outside in the cold. Everyone loves a cute accessory!
So cute and easy! Kids can make their doll's hats to match every outfit!
That is a fabulous idea, and so cute too. :0)
