Do you know what this is? It's a pastry blender. It's used to combine flour and butter when making bread or other pastries. Just because it was created for a purpose, it doesn't mean that is all that it can be used for. There are so many kitchen gadgets out there that it is really impractical to have tools that can be used for only one use. You'd never have room for them all in your drawers and cabinets!
One thing that I've always used my pastry blender for is to make egg salad. It's so easy to use to chop up all those eggs to the size you prefer.
Another great use for your pastry blender is to mash avocados for guacamole. Leave them as big chunks, or mash smaller for a smoother consistency.
How about using it for making a streusel topping?
It's also great for mashing potatoes, sweet potatoes, squash, and bananas.
There are so many uses, why limit yourself? What other uses do you have for your pastry blender?
I've also seen uses on Pinterest for pretty vintage ones as towel holders and such... but I think I would rather use mine! Thank you for the tips Melissa! I never thought of it for egg salad, but I will be sure to now!!
