Now that we have an 18 month old, I just don't see it being very easy to get her to sleep in a tent. The perfect solution was to set up the tent in our backyard. Dad and the two older girls get to camp and Mom and the baby get to sleep inside! Best of both worlds! Plus none of all that packing that takes so much time. When the baby is older, I think it will be fun to take the family camping.
My daughters have been so excited about the camping trip. I'm surprised my middle daughter was able to actually keep it a secret. Of course it is the only surprise she did manage to keep. Let's just say that the beer brewing supplies gift he opens on Father's Day is not going to be a surprise! My oldest decided that she wanted to make pop-up cards this year. How cute is her camping scene card she made for her Dad! She drew, cut out, colored, and glued the pop-ups in place all herself. I thought it turned out so good! She loves her paper projects.
What camping trip would be complete without some Smores! To make it easier, we just turned on the grill to roast our marshmallows. They got a little crispy, but I think that just adds to the flavor! So rich and yummy!
Here's the hubby enjoying his burnt marshmallow! I must say that I do prefer my marshmallows a little less crispy than that. Well, I'm off to make some food for our Father's Day family breakfast and lunch. If it all turns out well, I'll be sure to share the recipes! Have a great Father's Day and make sure to give Dad a big hug and Thank you!
