100 Years of Girl Scouts - Felt Fortune Cookie Swaps

This year marks the 100th Anniversary for Girl Scouts!  What an amazing organization it has been for so many girls throughout the years.

This past weekend we joined the Bridging into the next Century celebration held at Epcot.  Part of the festivities included an area for the girls to exchange swaps.  These are basically just handmade items that the girls can pin on or wear.  It's really a fun way for the girls to meet some new friends and trade little trinkets.  We could have made hundreds of them, but decided 25 for each girl was enough.  We decided to make Fortune Cookie Swaps!

Start by tracing circles onto a piece of craft felt.  We used the bottom of a cup measuring around 2 inches across to make our circles.  Cut out your circles.

Not fold your felt circles in half.  You will need to sew a short seam in the middle of your half circle as shown in the picture above.  I did this part for the girls, but older girls may be able to do this step themselves.  I did it by machine due to the fact that I was making so many, but the girls could sew them by hand as well.

Now you will fold each of the sides up towards each other, creating your fortune cookie.  So simple!

Now you can create your fortunes!  We printed a message with the girls name and troop number and cut them out in strips.  Ours read, "Good Luck for another 100 years!"

The girls had so much fun trading their Fortune Cookie Swaps and checking out what the other girls had made.  It was fun to see how far people had come to celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouts!

Making friends and trading swaps!
