Restored Wood Doll Cradle

This doll cradle was going to be a Christmas gift for our youngest daughter, but it never actually made it in time.  I have to say that it was not my doing!  The hubby procrastinated as he likes to do.  The paint dried in time, but the stain was pretty thick and took much longer to dry.  Needless to say, it didn't make it under the tree in time for Christmas morning.  Good thing she is only one and didn't really care when it was complete!

This was a wood cradle that we had bought at a garage sale awhile back for my older daughters.  They now have a little daybed for their American Girl dolls so they don't really play with it anymore.  We figured it was sturdy enough that we should freshen it up and pass it down to our youngest.  It definitely needed some paint and a little fun.  The hubby started by painting the inside of the cradle a bright pink.  After it dried, he stained the outside a darker brown.

I added a little fun by using Mod Podge to adhere scrapbook paper to the two ends of the cradle.  How did I ever live without Mod Podge?  So many fun projects that I've been missing out on for so long!  It's ok.  I know now and I'm catching up on all of those projects!

It's so cute to see our little one playing with her Babies!  Such a sweet little Mommy!

She had to try out the little blanket that I made for her to use with the cradle.  Guess it was comfy!

Then she decided to try out the cradle for herself.  Good thing it is sturdy.  Move over Baby!

I also made a little mat for the bottom of the cradle and a matching pillow.  These two and the blanket were all done and under the tree for Christmas I might add.  I won't mention that I was up past midnight finishing them though!  Typical Christmas Eve!

The cradle looks so much nicer now with its fresh update.  I wouldn't be surprised if the older girls decide it's worth playing with again!
